Hurricane Florence

Hurricanes are natural disasters that can prove to be destructive and dangerous when they reach high populated cities. The wind speed of a hurricane are very dangerous and can reach speeds of up to 74 mph and more depending on the category. Hurricanes can cause massive damage like flooding, destruction of homes, and even casualties.

Hurricane Florence was a hurricane that affected several parts of the United States from August to September earlier this year. Hurricane Florence affected areas like North Carolina, South Carolina, and Maryland. The Hurricane was a category four, which means that it was a major hurricane and caused massive damage and destruction.

Hurricane Florence just completely destroyed cities leaving floods and destruction in its trail. Hurricane Florence left a Monumental disaster, as described by CNN, and continues on to say “Now a post-tropical cyclone, Florence has killed 32 people, trapped hundreds more and cut off an entire city, officials said. Residential streets have turned into rivers, and freeways have morphed into waterways dotted with rescue boats. And the storm continues to wreak havoc. The hurricane flooded streets, trapped people in their homes, and even killed people.

The areas affected by the hurricane took measures so that the residents of those areas were safe from the destruction Hurricane Florence caused. USA TODAY says “Hurricane Florence is plowing toward the East Coast as a Category 4 storm with a 500-mile wingspan, forcing dire warnings and mandatory evacuations – including the entire coastline of South Carolina and parts of Virginia and North Carolina. In South Carolina alone, more than 1 million residents and tourists are expected to flee from coastal areas, Gov. Henry McMaster said Monday, vowing that state officials “are not going to gamble” with people’s lives.” The people from the affected areas were evacuated to avoid the hurricane and be in a safe place. Evacuating the people was very effective because it helped save the lives of more than 1 million people.
